Abstract

In the Islamic state, the institution of Bait-ul-Mal is established for the social security of the people. Bait-ul-Mal is considered a trust. During the Prophetic Era (PBUH) and the Siddiqui Era, the wealth that was collected was immediately distributed among the deserving. The Rightly Guided Caliphate was free from corruption. The rightful owner received his due. The reason for the transparency of the Bait-ul-Mal was the simple lifestyle of the Rightly Guided Caliphs and the establishment of a system of justice. In the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Bait-ul-Mal institution was established in 1992 to support the disables, orphans, widows and destitute people. The funds of this institution are allocated by the central government. The main purpose of its establishment is to provide social security to the deprived members of society. Billions of rupees were also involved in financial corruption in this institution. Although the projects of the Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal are aimed at increasing welfare, it is important that the funds allocated for the poor is spent on them and not wasted on corruption or nepotism. The purpose of writing this paper is to clarify the role of Bait ul Mal in providing social security in Pakistan. It is also to highlight the importance of this institution's financial transparency. The research paper followed narrative and analytical approach.
